Deborah appears in Judges as a prophetess and judge who sits under the palm of Deborah and gives judgment to Israel. At a time of national pressure, she summons Barak and calls the people into action against Sisera's army.
Her leadership joins public wisdom with military courage. She does not hold authority as decoration. She reads the moment, speaks command, inspires movement, and becomes part of one of Tanakh's great songs of victory and national awakening.
